Common name:Lily of the Nile
Botanical name:Agapanthus africanus

This evergreen groundcover/shrub will grow about 3' tall and has large green leaves with blue flowers ( there is a white variety) that bloom in spring and summer. It will grow in all soils but prefers loam soil.

Common name:Yellow Wild Iris
Botanical name:Dietes bicolor

This clumping perennial iris relative stands 3-4' high. It has light yellow iris-like flowers with maroon blotches that are about 2" wide. It performs best in full sun and in soil with good drainage.

Common name:Chinese Fringe Tree
Botanical name:Chionanthus retusus

This small tree will grow 12-25' high x 12-25' wide and has deciduous yellow/green leaves that are yellow in the fall. Insignificant white flowers bloom in summer.

Soils and Compost:

Maintain a two to four inch layer of mulch on the soil surface to reduce weeds, infiltrate rain water, and reduce compaction.

Water Saving Tip:

Even during our hottest months we don't need to water daily.

Give your plants a chance to breath.

Water late at night or in the early morning hours to avoid losses to wind and evaporation.

Integrated Pest Management:

Remove irrigation water and fertilizer from areas where you don't want weeds to grow.
